Chris was instrumental in the installation of my 7.5 kv solar system, using American made panels and labor. It has now been a year since installation and I count this improvement to my home one of the most intelligent I have ever added. I just checked my O&R bill online and this month (October) my bill came to $1.04. That is with 6 people in the household , two of which are grand kids ages 9 and 7. The project and the ASES tour has convinced me that there are many other things I can do as well. Thanks Chris!
“I don’t often feel so compelled to sit down and write testimonial type letters, but for this experience, I make an exception. I feel motivated on many levels to speak honestly about my project. I would say it all began a year or so ago with everyone being swept up in the ‘green movement’. I, like everyone else, watched ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ and was left humbled. I adopted a Polar Bear, switched my lightbulbs, hounded my kids about water usage, grew a garden, turned down the water heater, gave money to the homeless and in a last ditched effort to make myself feel better……I complained. I complained ALOT. Mostly about rising costs and wastefulness. Sometimes about how, when I built my house, contractors were nothing but a headache. I couldn’t imagine dealing with another empty promise, overstated, overpriced contract. I still however, felt I needed to join the effort to make the world a better place for my two young boys. The predictions for the future, even if were sensationalized would still be expensive. My operating expenses are already high. I can’t fathom what they would be come 10 or even 20 years from now. I decided to start researching solar energy. It was, in my mind, the most logical next step. I talked candidly to a friend who was open and honest about her decision to go solar and surprisingly found that it wasn’t at all out of reach financially. I began searching online and found 2KSolar Contracting, a local installer. The owner, Chris DiBernardo allayed all my fears almost immediately. He was very accomodating and willing to do a site visit and estimate. I remember the visit. We sat casually, in my backyard, and just talked. We talked at length about what impact this decision would mean to me financially, aestetically and personally. When he left, I was decided…almost. Even though I had used the cost estimator on 2KSolars website I had a bad taste in my mouth when it came to contractors. Within a week Chris contacted me with my estimate. I made up my mind. What seemed insurmountable at one time boiled down to this…pay my electric company whatever they decided to charge me forever, or pay THE SAME AMOUNT MONTHLY to a New York State Energy loan for an energy source that is unaffected by inflation. See, that is what Chris helped me realize. The tax incentives and rebates are so generous that I was able to put in my whole system for roughly the same price I was paying to my electric company! And when the loan is done, I get free energy from Mother Earth FOREVER! Plus, should I ever decide to move, I will see at least a two-fold return on this investment. Now came the part I dreaded-contractors….here, on site, working, making a mess. Once again, I was shocked. Because of my lack of roof space and the way it is situated I needed a ground mount. Yes, on my lawn. I couldn’t believe how quick and painless it all was. Basically, a day for the indoor electrical, a day to dig and set the holes, and one more full day to build the frame and place the panels. Our biggest hold-up was due to lack of the very thing we were trying to harness-the sun! It rained a solid week during installation which put the project a little behind. Chris and his crew were so easy to have working here. They were knowledgeable, efficient, friendly, funny and most of all honest. The work was done quickly and cleanly. I was so impressed with how passionate they are and how much I, as the homeowner, was taken into consideration. I feel very lucky to have picked 2KSolar. Now, every time I look at my yard I feel proud at what I have done. And every time I look at my electric bill I will laugh! Thank You!”
“We highly recommend Chris DiBernardo and his team at 2K Solar. His estimate was fast, thorough and accurate. The finished solar system works as designed, is aesthetically pleasing and all work was done on or ahead of schedule. Chris goes the extra distance to provide clear and informative drawings, schedules and easily answered all our questions. The 2K Solar team was friendly, professional, and always left the work site as neat as they found it. The icing on the cake is that his pricing is the best in the Hudson valley. Chris is well informed, responsive to customer needs, creative with his solutions, timely through every aspect of the job, and thoroughly professional. Want to see your electric meter spin backwards? “When my family decided to have solar electric installed on our home, I spent a lot of time researching the equipment and the installers in and around my area. When it came to imagining the system design and the best components to use, I had a lot of help from my son, who works in Washington D.C. as a professional in the field of green energy. As someone with old environmental commitments, I was eager to learn all I could for myself. This part of the process was great–though I found, in the end, I could have dispensed with much of it. For when it came to talking with and getting estimates from installers, I found I learned the most. I was delighted to find a substantial number of informed and really sympathetic people working in the field. After all, what better business is there to be in now? For solar energy is something that does both individual customers and our country as a whole a great deal of good. All of this is a prelude to saying that, when I contracted with Chris DiBernardo at 2k Solar, I found everything I could wish for in a green energy installer. Chris really knows his stuff–not just the technical end, but also the financial side. He and his partners make an ideal team: Chris, expert on alternative energy systems, has partnered with a roofer and an electrician, each with many years of experience behind him. This guarantees a team that has exactly the skills a really good solar installation requires. They all thoroughly know what they’re doing, and they all really care about alternative energies generally and the customer in particular. An added plus is that they’re all as interesting and nice as people as they are skilled and knowledgeable as professionals. At every point in the process they went the extra mile. They designed and redesigned the system not just to make it work with our roof’s particular kinks, but also to ensure that the product was genuinely aesthetic, genuinely nice to look at. They used the best components; everything they suggested was top end. A further key benefit they offered that some don’t is they they did all the work themselves. They don’t send temp workers up the roof to do the grunt work; they’re there themselves. And something that I was just as grateful for is that when I needed to contact Chris for any reason he was either immediately available or got back to me within a couple of hours. And in every interaction he was serious, calmly professional, thoughtful, inventive, fun to talk with, and thoroughly can-do. This was true both before we signed our agreement and after we signed our agreement, and it remains true now even after the contract has been completed: whenever I’ve had a question, Chris has been available to answer it. He’s made the process of our getting to know our system as pleasant as getting it. I could go on to mention a number of still other ways 2K Solar stood out for us, but let me confine myself to one. NYSERDA wasn’t the easiest entity to deal with–they suspended their support program for a while thanks to running out of funds–and our planned installation schedule was accordingly held up. Another layer of complication in timing came from negotiating a NYSERDA supported loan for the system. Chris handled all the dealings with NYSERDA flawlessly, making sure we were high up in the queue for approvals once NYSERDA replenished its funds. He also was flexible in dealing with uncertainty about the timing of the loan. And he was terrific at working with O & R when it came to getting the system up and running. The upshot of this was that we got the maximum possible governmental (Federal and State) support with literally no effort on my part. That this meant installing the system on some extremely cold January days didn’t daunt 2K Solar in the least. We have had no disappointments. We recommend 2K Solar as the ideal partner to have when installing solar electricity.”
